Dan Dovidio's Karate - Sixty-Four years young - Training since 1995
Growing up I always wanted to learn karate. There wasn’t a dojo near where I lived so I didn’t have the opportunity to learn karate. I had a small and brief introduction to Shotokan and judo while attending college. I realized that there was more to learning karate then just knowing a few moves. I wanted to keep going but life got in the way.
My karate training finally started when I moved to New Hampshire in 1993. I used to drive by Dan Dovidio’s dojo in Goffstown on my way to work. One day I finally decided to stop in an inquire about Dan’s program. I was immediately impressed and finally started training with my son who was 8 years old at the time.
My training in Uechi Ryu has helped me tremendously throughout the years. it has helped to keep me grounded during a stressful career, and has helped me maintain focus, especially during difficult times. It has helped me realize my full potential. I have remained consistent with my training for almost 30 years. I have never taken a break from training, despite extensive travel and long days at work. I contribute my success in Uechi ryu to my sensei, Dan Dovidio and fellow practitioners.
I especially want to thank my wife Wendy, who has always been there by my side supporting me.
